Scott Holtzman
Offering Yoga in the Svaroopa® Style and Embodyment® Yoga Therapy
Biography:
When I took my first yoga class in November
2007 I fell in love with asana practice and the inner
experiences it cultivated. Shortly after that I grew tired of
making a living in unsatisfying ways which led me to explore
teaching yoga as my life's work. That exploration led me
toSvaroopa® yoga. Being used to classical Hatha and
Vinyasaclasses, the first pose in my first Svaroopa® class
felt like the least effective pose I’d ever done - so
much so I almost got up and left! I am glad I stayed. After
class was over I knew this was the only style of yoga I wanted
to practice and teach, and after 200 hours of training that
truth is even more firmly embedded. I have experienced a sense
of freedom along with peace and understanding that I never
imagined possible. It is with great joy and admiration that I
am able to facilitate others in their related process as well.
Yoga in the Svaroopa® style
incorporates traditional Hatha yoga poses with careful
attention to alignment and propping to meet the bodies
tensions, allowing the layers of muscles wrapped around the
spinal column to release. Because these are the core muscles in
our bodies, releasing them offers a deep opening, a greater
sense of self-awareness, and an incredible experience of bliss.
Yoga in the Svaroopa® style is not physically strenuous or
vigorous; its subtle nature allows for the awareness of changes
within the body, mind, and spirit throughout the practice.
